"Choice" is a process that families engage in when their child is ready to be promoted from one school level to the next, such as when your child is ready to start elementary school or is ready to go to secondary school. There are additional opportunities to engage in the choice process when a new school is opened and when new grades are added to a school, such as the new fifth grade that will be added to the Global Communications Academy.
All parents will participate in the choice process when their child enters elementary school and again when your child enters secondary school.
How does the Choice application process work?
How Does the Choice Application Process Work?
The Choice application process is fairly simple. Review available schools and submit your application. By following the guidelines below, you will help to ensure a smooth and successful application and admission process for your child.
- At the time the application is submitted, it is expected that parents and students understand and intend to fully comply with the academic program and uniform requirements of each school.
- All applications must be received at the CHOICE Office by the application deadline date of Tuesday, March 30, 2010.
- Parents must choose four (4) school selections on the application in order of preference, ranking their selections from the highest to the lowest choice.
- Each child must submit a separate application even if the family has more than one child applying to the same school.
- The district will mail parents/guardians a written notification of receipt of their application as well as written notification of their child’s placement. Notices will be mailed out in April, 2010.
- It is the responsibility of the family to have a correct address and telephone number on file.
- For 2010-2011, all school start times may change. Our goal is to stay within a 15 minutes time difference, but there could be a 30 minute change in the school start time.
