The Hartford Public Schools Advisory Committees provide forums for families, students, staff, and community partners to offer input and share feedback on school district programs, policies and processes. The Committees aim to ensure that the school district is responsive to the needs of its community, promote collaboration and communications across the district, and gather input and feedback.

In addition to the above committees, Hartford Public Schools has the below committees that have full memberships:

  • Partnership Collaborative Panel - The monthly Partnership Collaborative Panel meetings with the school district aim to strengthen relationships between the district and its community partners and provide a platform for two-way communication around district updates, processes, progress monitoring of outcomes, discussing key initiatives, and addressing any challenges or opportunities for joint action.

  • Faith-based Committee - To unite faith-based community leaders to support the educational, social, and emotional well-being of our students. We seek to foster understanding, promote inclusivity, and leverage community resources to enhance the educational experience. Through dialogue and partnerships, we aim to build a stronger, connected community that uplifts every student and family.

  • Superintendent's Student Advisory Council - The mission of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC) is to provide a platform for students across HPS to work in partnership with the Superintendent and Central Office staff in collaborative, solutions-oriented problem solving. Through these experiences, students will build leadership skills incumbent to effective advocacy and productive change. Learn More.

  • Professional Development and Evaluation Committee - The PDEC Advisory Committee is dedicated to supporting and advocating for high-quality implementation of Hartford Public Schools' performance management systems and professional learning initiatives.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to the ideas and feedback shared in the meetings?
Input and feedback gathered during each meeting will be shared with Central Office divisions, departments and Senior Leadership. The information shared will guide the District's decisions and ensure that the District is responsive to the needs, requests, and concerns of the community.

Who can sign up for a committee?
Each committee has its own requirements for committee members. If you are interested in applying to a committee, please view the details of that committee above to see if you are eligible to apply.

What is the cadence for meetings?
Each committee will meet quarterly for at least 60 minutes. The meeting dates and times will be determined by each committee.

How many people are in each committee?
Each committee should have no more than 20 people.

Who will be in charge of the committees?
Members of the District's Senior Leadership Team will chair or co-chair each committee.
