Increasing Educator Diversity Plan (IED)
The goal of the Increasing Educator Diversity Plan is to diversify the educator pipeline in Hartford Public Schools to increase the recruitment, hiring, and retention of educators of color. The Office of Talent Management invited stakeholders from across the district to serve on the Guiding Committee and/or Subcommittees for Recruitment, Selection & Hiring, and Retention.
HPS Vision
Hartford Public Schools acknowledges that systems of injustice exist in our nation and our community. Our district is committed to addressing systemic barriers to create a culture of equity that benefits all students. We are committed to recruiting, developing, and retaining a diverse team of culturally competent educators. We strive to have our team reflect the different perspectives of our families and community so that we can work together to overcome obstacles, close the opportunity gaps, and prepare our students for continuous success.
HPS Theory of Action
If we improve employment, recruitment, onboarding, retention practices, development, leadership, and recognition with a lens of equity… Then we will build a diverse workforce that is representative of our students and community.
