University High School of Science an Engineering
On October 2, 2024, UHSSE Spanish Teacher, Ms. Faria and her students welcomed Central Connecticut State University president Zuma Toro, who came in to speak with students about her career, about how CCSU celebrates and supports diversity, as well as about the opportunities CCSU offers to their students (scholarships, and study abroad opportunities).

University High School of Science an Engineering
UHSSE Spanish Teacher, Ms. Faria organized a visit, for September 25, 2024, in which Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, Daisy Torres-Hill held a meaningful, important discussion with junior and senior World Language students. She shared her life story as a Latina student, college student and graduate student, and discussed college, scholarships, careers and exploring self-worth and culture.

Hartford Public High School
During culture week at HPHS, Spanish teacher, Paola Rosa-Medina and her students celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month. Students participated in a gallery walk, choosing materials related to the Dominican Republic from a designated table. After material selection, students participated in group discussions to share their findings and deepen their understanding of Dominican culture and history. HPHS students all participated in a scavenger hunt! Ms. Medina wore her Dominican Traditional Dress.

HPS Represents at the 2024 Hartford Puerto Rican Day Parade
On September, 22 2024, Superintendent. Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez joined Hartford Public Schools in the 2024 Puerto Rican Day Parade; marching alongside Board Members, students, families and colleagues from Noah Webster Microsociety Magnet (with their amazing drumline!) Wish School, West Middle, School, Burns Latino Studies Academy, and more. ¡Feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana!

Naylor School
On September 16, 2024, NBC Connecticut joined the students and staff of Naylor School for an exciting Hispanic Heritage pep rally. Everyone had an amazing time celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. You can watch the NBC story here!
Dwight Bellizzi Dual Language Academy Experiences Hispanic Heritage Minecraft!
This 21st Century Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration took place in teacher, Courtney Proto's Technology Education class utilizing Minecraft Education! Ms. Proto said, "They LOVED that they were on Minecraft and they really liked meeting the characters and seeing the world decorated with items [that reflected Hispanic Heritage month but also that] they were familiar with but have never seen on Minecraft." Dwight Bellizzi Dual Language Academy Bulletin Board Competition
On September 16, Dwight Bellizzi Dual Language Academy held its annual Hispanic Heritage MonthJudging of Bulletin Boards! The race was on for the very best Hispanic Heritage Month student-designed bulletin board. Ideas ranged from creating boards with Hispanic recipes, all the way to spotlighting Hispanic sports stars!
