Student Support Services (Special Education, MTSS, 504)

Mission Statement

We support the district mission to grow the full potential of each and every student. Our goal is to ensure that all students with disabilities have access to the general education curriculum, to their Individualized Education Program, and to the many extra curricular and social opportunities that exist in their schools.

The Office of Student Support Services (OSSS) falls under the Office of Academics. We support the district mission to grow the full potential of each and every student. Our goal is to ensure that all students with disabilities have access to the general education curriculum, their Individual Education Plan, and the many extra curricular and social opportunities that exist in their schools.

We support students with IEPS or 504 plans who are Hartford residents in district schools, RESC magnet schools, Open Choice, and neighboring communities. Our special education programming is individualized based on student need and might include specialized instruction in reading, math, or writing. Students may require accommodations or modifications to their learning or their environment.

All students ages 13 -22 years participate in coordinated transition services to prepare them for life after graduation. Students may receive related services which may include psychological evaluation, speech and language therapy, social work counseling, occupational therapy, physical therapy, visual and hearing supports, mobility services, and transportation services.

Please see the materials and forms in our Special Education Document Library if you have specific questions or concerns.
