<NEW> HPS Launches Innovation Network
I am so excited to announce that this week, our first cohort of the Innovation Network began their training and learning sessions. The Innovation Network is a group of five schools (Betances Learning Lab, Betances STEM, Breakthrough Magnet School North, Bulkeley High School, and Sanchez School) that are developing innovative practices and programs that will benefit the entire district. The Innovation Network, or i-Net, was developed in the wake of the pandemic with input from students, staff, and community members. Through their feedback, we realized the need for new strategies to help our students succeed in an ever-changing world.
As part of our innovation efforts, we will be providing students with more opportunities to share their voice and have a say in their education. This year, we will be inviting students to take part in a multi-year process to design their own school - focusing on what they feel they need in order to graduate prepared to transform their world. <NEW> Celebrating Our Diversity
Hispanic Heritage Month ended on Sunday, October 15 but at Hartford Public Schools, we celebrate our diverse cultures and heritage all year long. As a way to showcase our beautiful and diverse district, we teamed up with Connecticut Public to create a series of videos highlighting the students, staff, and programs that make Hartford Public Schools so special. These videos will be shared on Connecticut Public’s various channels, including their website, television, radio, and more. You can watch the first video below or click here. I want to thank the students and staff at Dwight Bellizzi Dual Language Academy, Sanchez Elementary, Environmental Sciences Magnet at Mary Hooker, Naylor School, Classical Magnet, Breakthrough Magnet School North and more for contributing to this video. We will be sharing more videos from Connecticut Public, focused on different topics, throughout the year.
<NEW> Arts and Attendance Winners Announced!
Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Arts and Attendance contest! After more than 1,600 votes from the HPS community, the winners are:
Best Attendance Video: Betances STEM - Mrs. DiBiase’s Class (click here to view the video!)
Best Attendance Slogan: Betances Learning Lab - Ms. Scully’s Class: “Attendance is the key to being a champion at HPS!”
Best Attendance Visual: Naylor School - Ms. Murrillo’s 1st Grade Class
The winners will be celebrated at the November Board of Education meeting. Now through November 22, schools are kicking off a new attendance challenge with a soccer theme. Keep an eye out for information from your school about activities and incentives! The winners of this attendance challenge will get a special prize!

<NUEVO> Las HPS lanzan una red de innovación
Me complace anunciar que esta semana nuestro primer grupo de la Red de innovación comenzó sus sesiones de capacitación y aprendizaje. La Red de innovación es un grupo de cinco escuelas (Betances Learning Lab, Betances STEM, Breakthrough Magnet School North, Bulkeley High School y Sanchez School) que están desarrollando prácticas y programas innovadores que beneficiarán a todo el distrito. La Red de innovación, o i-Net, se desarrolló a raíz de la pandemia con las aportaciones de los estudiantes, el personal y los miembros de la comunidad. A través de sus comentarios, nos dimos cuenta de la necesidad de nuevas estrategias para ayudar a nuestros estudiantes a tener éxito en un mundo en constante cambio.
Como parte de nuestros esfuerzos de innovación, ofreceremos a los estudiantes más oportunidades de compartir su voz y opinar sobre su educación. Este año, invitaremos a los estudiantes a participar en un proceso de varios años para diseñar su propia escuela, centrándose en lo que creen que necesitan para graduarse preparados para transformar su mundo. ¡Felicitaciones a los ganadores del concurso de Arte y Asistencia de este año! Tras más de 1,600 votos de la comunidad de las HPS, los ganadores son:

Estén atentos a la información de su escuela sobre actividades e incentivos. ¡Los ganadores de este reto de asistencia recibirán un premio especial!
