Bulkeley High School swim team fall 2023

We are so proud of all of our high school athletes who played this fall. Many of our teams competed in championships and tournaments, and  many players earned awards. This year, we also had three Esports teams compete in the playoffs!  Scroll down to see some highlights of some our high school sports this Fall.

Bulkeley High School

Boys Soccer - Made it to the 1st Round of CIAC Class M to Jonathan Law, but they received awards for stand-out athletics!

All Conference -  Chris Hernandez and Jose Cruz-Gomez








Girls Volleyball - Made it to 2nd Round of CIAC Class S Tournament to North Branford.  They were ranked #1 for 6 weeks in the State Class S Division and they played with great spirit, always keeping in their minds and hearts Alondra Vega, the beloved team member and captain they lost this year.

All Conference - Gabriela Rodriguez, Ada Belen Mori-Malaver, Syurley DaSilva Souza  and Alondra Vega in Memoria

Girls Cross Country - They earned 3rd Place in CRAL Championships and won the City Series Championship!!!

Capital Preparatory Magnet School

Girls Soccer - made it to the first round of states!

Anniyah Lyttle, Sophomore was named to the CLASS S Connecticut Girls Soccer Coaches Association (CGSCA) all-state teams for the 2023 season!!!

Classical Magnet School

Girls Soccer -  made it to 2nd round of states; they earned 2nd Place in the CRAL league!!!

Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy

Girls Soccer - 2023 CRAL Girls Championship  (tourney) - Made it to the  1st Round of CIAC Class M at Hand (Madison) at Hand (Madison) , and had players recognized as All Conference Players!

All Conference Players - Anna Parsons, Destini Jones, Trocari Griffith-McCalop

Boys Soccer - 2023 CRAL Runner up (tourney) - They lost in the 2nd Round of CIAC Class S to Oxford.

All Conference Players - Harun Omerovic, Merdan Kuljancic, Carlos Velez, Fabrizio  Ortiz


Girls Volleyball - 2023 CRAL Runner up (tourney) - They won the 1st Round of CIAC Class M vs. Whitney Tech, but lost in 2nd round to Foran.

All Conference Players  - Bryana Wilson, Sophia Cabello, Shanira Lugo

 Voted best sportsmanship team in CRAL!!!!

Girls Cross Country - made the 2023 CRAL League Championship!

All Conference Players - Anyla Brown, Avery Dumas, Veronica Webster

Sport and Medical Sciences Academy

Football Co-op team -  played in the quarter finals of the state tournament for Class M on Tuesday 11/28 making them back-to-back conference champions!  They fell 22 v 40 to Holy Cross. The team includes students from Bulkeley High School, Classical Magnet School, Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy, Sport and Medical Sciences Academy, and University High School of Science and Engineering.

Zahkeer Kerr, SMSA, named in the CT Insider as a Connecticut high school football CIAC quarterfinal top performer: he ran for two touchdowns and a two-point conversion and threw for a touchdown in a 40-22 loss to Holy Cross in Class M, 11/28/23!!!

Boys Soccer - NCCC all-conference selection - Delmar Richards  - team captain made 202 saves

Girls Volleyball  - qualified for Class S tournament and defeated Ellis Tech in first round, but lost to Haddam-Killingworth in second round.

All Conference -  Edita Guster and Yarieshka Sierra

Weaver High School

Boys Soccer -  Made it to the 2nd Round of CIAC Class M to Northwestern Regional; their first state tournament victory since 2007.


Girls Volleyball - Made it to the 1st Round of CIAC Class M to Lauralton Hall

Boys Soccer: Record 6 - 9 - 1;  Made it to 1st round of state tournament to Suffield 9-0 

All Conference:  Lucien Twizere and Connor LaBlanc 

Girls Volleyball: Record 5 - 15

All Conference: Mia Perez 

Boys Cross Country: Placed 2nd at the CRAL Championships

All Conference: Tanmay Thaker ( Overall winner), Jethro Ehrlich, Emmet Spaeth 

Girls Cross Country: Placed 2nd at the CRAL Championships

All Conference: Catherine Hockenhull ( Overall winner), Haniya Musa, Natania Dhanagar, Jayla Darell 

E-Sports:  Play-offs 11/30/23 -  Over 8 students' athletes made the E-Sports playoffs, with three teams competing in playoffs 

NBA2k  -- Ranked 24th in the East

Madden 24 - Ranked 3rd in the Northeast Region

And Smash Bros. - Ranked 9th in Connecticut

Isaac Gran is NBA2k Player (Sophomore)

Jordan Shelton Smith is  Madden Player (sophomore)

Smash Bros team consist of Xavier Robles, Isaiah Brown, and Rahim Ambia
