On January 26, 2024, 17 Weaver High School students from the Insurance and Finance Pathway participated in a Business Case Competition hosted by Capital Community College. Students worked in groups to review a business case regarding how Beyoncé disrupted the music industry with the release of her 2013 album, "Beyonce" with nothing but an Instagram post saying "Surprise!" Teams had two hours to discuss the case, create a presentation, and practice their presentation.
During the presentations, students discussed the pros and cons of Beyoncé's unique approach, explained a graphical representation of sales revenue, and issued recommendations and predictions for the music industry.
Every team did a phenomenal job of working together and creating engaging presentations with thoughtful recommendations. The winning team, Julio Rivera Acevedo, Kasmaesha Carrasco, and Zyann Palmer, received $50 gift cards, with the second place team, Milady Rivera, Amiya Baymon-Morris, Joanna Miller, and Shantana Smith receiving some Capital Community College swag.
Following the competition, students enjoyed lunch while networking with several professionals who were in attendance. It was a great day and we are incredibly proud of all of the students who attended!
