On March 1, 2024, the Ladies of the Sisterhood Club at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School performed at the Village for Families and Children's annual Black History Month celebration.
Their dance rendition of “Stand Up” by Cynthia Erivo retold the story of Harriet Tubman freeing her people. The performance was very riveting and earned the young ladies a standing ovation.
The Sisterhood Club is run through MLK's Community-Based Organization, The Village for Families and Children. It is a girls empowerment group that focuses on good character development, leadership, and community-mindedness.
