Hartford Public Schools is proud to announce that one of its very own educators is a finalist for the nation's highest honor in math and science teaching! Lisa Liptak, a 1st grade teacher at Annie Fisher STEM, has been named a state finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) for K-6 Math.

This prestigious award recognizes outstanding K-12 teachers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Awardees reflect the expertise and dedication of the Nation's teaching corps, and they demonstrate the positive impact of excellent teachers on student achievement. Ms. Liptak's nomination highlights her exceptional talent for fostering a love of learning and critical thinking skills in their students.

"Mrs. Liptak is a phenomenal educator who has transformed the learning experience for our first-grade students at Annie Fisher STEM," said Erin Wilson-Ruff, principal at Annie Fisher STEM. "Her passion for math and science is infectious, inspiring students to explore and excel in these critical areas. Her innovative teaching methods and unwavering dedication to our AFSTEM learning community is invaluable. We are so proud of Mrs. Liptak and thank her for all of her hard work and dedication."

The National Science Foundation administers PAEMST on behalf of The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
