It's been an amazing Summer of Reading and we could not have done it without Hartford Public Library and their annual Summer Reading Challenge! We had a total of 2,665 youth participate and total hours read were 23,515 hours, 30 minutes!
At Hartford Public Schools we hosted Lunch with the Superintendent on August 16, a beautiful event with students, parents, HPL/HPS staff and the Superintendent; a memorable experience and we are very grateful for this opportunity to offer this celebration to our Summer Reading Stars!
Our Summer Reading Winners who were invited to the HPS lunch celebration were:

Special thanks to Librarian Katherine Trouern-Trend and Joseph Jimenez from Hartford Public Library. Joseph, pictured with Superintendent Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez above, is a part-time staffer at HPL who assisted with the Summer Reading Challenge. He attended Hartford Public High School and graduated from Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy. He is attending Tunxis Community College, then later transferring to UConn, where is is studying Legal Studies and working towards a degree in social work. Congratulations to you, too, Mr. Jimenez!
