In July, 2024, the Connecticut Technology Council announced that they recognized Hartford Public Schools Instructional Technology Coach, Jordan Wissinger as one of 45 finalists in their 2024 Women of Innovation awards. Nominees included scientists, researchers, academics, manufacturers, student leaders, entrepreneurs, and technicians who are driving scientific advancement and business growth throughout Connecticut.
At Hartford Public Schools, Jordan Wissinger has been an English Language Arts teacher for 13 years focusing also on Technology Integration, Classroom Instruction, Educational Technology, Lesson Planning, and E-Learning, before making the switch in 2020 to being a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Coach where she has supported the growth and success of science learning in our schools, including in our Esports, Robotics, and cybersecurity programs.
Jordan is also a 2023-2024 NASEF (Network of Academic and Scholastic Esports Federations) Scholastic Fellow and states about her fellowship, "I wanted to further nurture my passion for scholastic Esports, recognizing the immense potential it holds for students, particularly those who often feel marginalized or overlooked." This year Jordan is excited to add digital fluency to all grade levels, to encompass AI and cybersecurity within Tech Ed, and span it across other disciplines as well.
The prestigious awards ceremony recognizing the outstanding group and announcing winners in eight categories will be held on Tuesday, October 22, from 4:30 PM to 7 PM at the Woodwinds in Branford. All finalists will be recognized at the ceremony. Youth finalists (high school juniors or seniors) will also receive scholarships to further their education.
