On September 11, 2024, ReadyCT, an outstanding HPS partner who, with CBIA and other partners, supports Career Pathways programs in our high schools, celebrated some of our students at their Internship Celebration at Hartford Public High School.
The event recognized approximately 40 student interns from HPHS for their experiences during the 2023-2024 school year. Employers were also at the event, speaking about the importance of providing real-world experiences to our young people in Hartford.
Internship experiences help students develop a vision for their future. Each intern leaves their internship with a glimpse into the work world together with a sense of pride and fulfillment. Along the way, interns reach work- based learning milestones that will form the foundation for future success.
Brittany Wilborn, Career Pathway Program Manager, ReadyCT delivered opening remarks and introduced Shannon Marimón Executive Director, ReadyCT and Ted Gawlicki, Founder of the Gawlicki Family Foundation.
Intern's employers and interns delivered their reflections on the experience including Justin Riley on the Connecticut Science Center, Miller Opie & Zah’myiah Owens about Real Art Ways, Joe Buonannata on CT Green Bank, and Leslie Otero & Sam Gomes about the Hispanic Health Council. Each intern received recognition and a certificate. Light refreshments were enjoyed by all.
Thank you to ReadyCT for their continued support of our students across many of our schools and the Gawlicki Family Foundation for their assistance with providing internship opportunities for students at HPHS. Thanks, too, to Hartford HealthCare and RTX for their ongoing career pathway program support. The ReadyCT team would like to thank HPHS teachers and administrators together with all participating employers who make these life-changing internship experiences possible.
