UHSSE Pride Club Creating an Active and Accepting Community for 2024-2025

New Activities and a Strong Community Spirit Highlight Pride Club’s Vision for 2024-2025

Co-pride club advisors Joseph Tarantino and Kate Grayeb started the pride club on September 20th, 2024, for the 2024-2025 school year. We went around asking some attendees: “What is your vision for Pride Club this year? What is a word you would use to describe what you want Pride Club to be for the people involved in it? Are you planning any activities for Pride Club and perhaps the school this year? What are you most excited about for Pride Club this year?”

We interviewed one freshman in the pride club, and we thankfully got a response to each question. “Our vision, we have more intentions to do more outside activities. The word I would use to describe our community is active and accepting. Yes, there are upcoming plans for the Pride Club very soon. Lastly, I’m most excited to show other people what we are going to do,” said Ariana Alvarado ’28.

Mr. Tarantino has also answered the questions about the Pride Club, saying: “Pride Club continues to provide a safe space for all members of the UHSSE community. Every year, we’ve been more and more involved in the school community, and we look to continue that this year. We are especially proud to bring Diversity Day back and hope to make it bigger than ever. I want the experience to be powerful. I want the Pride Club to remind members of the LGBTQ community that we not only deserve to take up space but influence and contribute to the community around us. Together, we are strong, and we’ve got each other’s backs. We plan to continue running events we have run in the past. This includes Pronoun Day, the Day of Silence, and Diversity Day. We have begun planning those already for this year, and there might be a surprise or two in store too,” He said.

These are the first updates to the newspaper club, and we look forward to new updates soon! Thank you for reading and enjoy. Look out for more newspapers from the club!
