February 3-7, 2025 is National School Counseling Week (NSCW). National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact our school counselors have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. Our school counselors are dedicated to ensuring all grade 6-12 Hartford Public School students have equitable access to high-quality college and career opportunities that will prepare them for the dynamic world of work and life beyond high school.
The theme of NSCW this year is “School Counseling: Helping Students Thrive.” Our counselors aim to inspire their students to create their own path towards success in and beyond school, and to connect them with the resources they need to follow that path. Our school counselors also partner with our families, and identify community resources that enhance their counseling programs. As key members of our school teams, they also help our schools cultivate inclusive learning environments helping HPS students feel safe, valued, and respected.
I would like to express our deepest appreciation for everything our school counselors do to ensure the academic success and well-being of our students and families.
In appreciation,
Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez
Superintendent
