<NEW> Teachers’ Voice Informs the District Operating Plan and Advocacy
On February 11, I was very happy to join representatives from Educators for Excellence, Hartford Public Schools teachers, and board members for a strategic discussion aligning our work. This was a powerful opportunity for me to hear from teachers in more detail about what strategies they want implemented that align with the strategic plan, and what questions they have about the strategic plan. It was also an opportunity to get feedback directly from teachers about the strategic plan and how they can best help implement our vision.
The outcomes that we shared are in direct alignment between our developing strategic plan and our teacher leader recommendations. This work will both inform and help shape the next level of details of the strategic plan with teacher involvement; creating a positive feedback loop between district leadership and teachers.
<NEW> HPS Student Athletes Bring Home Indoor Track Championships
On February 5, HPS athletes had a tremendous night at the CRAL Indoor Track Championship Meet at New Haven's Floyd Little Athletic Center!
Congratulations to Hartford Public High School and University High School of Science and Engineering who tied for first on the boys’ side, and to Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy who finished first on the girls' side. Great sportsmanship was shown by all, especially by Hartford Public High School and University High who insisted on taking a first place photo together! Congratulations to our athletes and coaches!
<NEW> Join HPS for a Community Budget Forum
Please join one of our Community Budget Forums either virtually on Thursday, February 20, or in-person on Monday, February 24. We'll be providing updates on the budget process for the 2025-2026 school year, and there will be an opportunity for discussion and questions.
If you would like to attend in-person, please join us on February 24 in the auditorium at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School at 25 Ridgefield Street in Hartford. Dinner will be served at 5:00 PM, and the forum will begin at 5:30 PM. Childcare and Spanish interpretation will be provided. Register here for the in-person event on February 24.
For those who cannot attend in-person, join our School Governance Council Members' forum on February 20; a virtual option with Spanish interpretation provided. The forum will begin at 5:30 PM. El 11 de febrero, me alegré mucho de reunirme con los representantes de Educadores para la Excelencia, los docentes de las Escuelas Públicas de Hartford, y los miembros de la junta para mantener un debate estratégico que alineara nuestro trabajo. Los resultados que compartimos están en consonancia directa con nuestro plan estratégico en desarrollo y nuestras recomendaciones para los líderes docentes. Este trabajo aportará información y ayudará a dar forma al siguiente nivel de detalles del plan estratégico con la participación docente, creando una retroalimentación positiva entre la dirección del distrito y los docentes.

El 5 de febrero, los atletas de las Escuelas Públicas de Hartford (HPS, por sus siglas en inglés) tuvieron una noche tremenda en el Campeonato de pista cubierta del CRAL en el Centro Atlético Floyd Little de New Haven.
Felicitaciones a Hartford Public High School y University High School of Science and Engineering quienes empataron en el primer lugar masculino y a Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy que ganó el primer lugar femenino. Todos demostraron un gran espíritu deportivo, ¡especialmente Hartford Public High School y University High que insistieron en tomarse una foto del primer lugar juntos! ¡Felicitaciones a nuestros atletas y entrenadores!

Acompáñenos en uno de nuestros foros de presupuesto comunitario, ya sea virtualmente el jueves, 20 de febrero o de forma presencial el lunes, 24 de febrero. Ofreceremos actualizaciones sobre el proceso presupuestario para el año escolar 2025-2026 y habrá oportunidad para debates y preguntas.
