HPS Students at the code.org table at the 2024 STEM Expo

Hartford Public Schools has been named by Code.org as its first Code.org District! Code.org states that HPS earned this honor because we are dedicated to offering students real-world experiences that enhance academic engagement, build technological skills, and foster leadership, all while preparing them for future opportunities. For example, this past May, HPS hosted our largest STEM Fair yet, with over 380 students from 28 schools participating. The event featured virtual reality, drone activities, an Esports tournament, and more, with 100 additional science displays compared to last year.

Hartford proudly shared their Code.org District status with stakeholders and debuted Code.org's Music Lab at the fair, where students had a blast using coding to create music.

Our regional partner, Sacred Heart University was also recognized for their exceptional work with Hartford Public Schools.

A Code.org District is a champion for expanding computer science education access and participation for all students. Through professional learning, data analysis, strategic planning, and community connections, Code.org Districts are committed to developing structures and systems for sustained computer science implementation. This work is not to be done by the district alone! With support of our Code.org Regional Partners and the District Program, Code.org Districts are given access to leading CS educators, thought partners and implementation resources.

Hartford Public Schools is leading the way in expanding Computer Science Education, providing students with meaningful opportunities to explore and grow. We are the very first district to be spotlighted in the new Code.org District Program: https://districts.code.org/

Way to go, Hartford Public Schools!
