We have had some exciting things take place at SMSA over the last few weeks. To start the year off, we had a Back 2 School celebration. That took place on August 22. We had bounce houses, pizza, swag giveaways, and tours of the school. SMSA was expecting maybe 100 people, but it turns out that we had just about 300 students and family members show up. That was a great way to start off the year. We hadn’t had a Back 2 School celebration in a long time. It was nice to give the kids something to be excited about.

Also, at SMSA, we currently have an Attendance Challenge going on. For the month of September, any student who is in school and in class 95% of the time, will be automatically invited to a field trip to go bowling at Spare Time in Vernon. Those students will also receive a t-shirt to wear that day. We are already seeing a decrease in absences and an increase in attendance. Students are excited to come to school because they know that they have something to look forward to because of the hard efforts they make every day. SMSA looks forward to more Attendance Challenges throughout the year, that will bring awareness to the importance of being in school, and also allow the kids to have some fun.
